From Pittsburgh and South: Take Route 28 North from downtown
Pittsburgh. Take exit 5B, Route 8 North/Butler. At the first
traffic light, turn right onto Kittaning Road. Continue
up Kittaning Road for 4.5 miles - it will become Dorseyville
Road without any notification. Beechwood will be on your
left.
From North and West: From the Pennsylvania Turnpike
Exit 4, take Route 8 South for 3 miles, toward Pittsburgh.
At the intersection of Harts Run Road and Route 8, take
a left. Follow Harts Run Road approximately 3.7 miles until
it dead ends into Dorseyville Road. Turn right on Dorseyville
Road and proceed 1/8 of a mile to Beechwood, on your right.
From the East: Take Pennsylvania Turnpike Exit 5
and go south on Old Route 28 (Freeport Road). At the Eat'n'Park
Restaurant on the right, turn right onto Guys Run Road and
proceed 4.1 miles. Guys Run Road will become Fox Chapel
Road without any notification. Fox Chapel Road dead ends
into Dorseyville Road. Take a left onto Dorseyville Road
and proceed 7/10 of a mile to Beechwood, which is on the
right.

Brady's
Run Park
Take I-376 (the Parkway West) from Pittsburgh toward the
Airport. Continue past the airport on Route 60 and take
the Chippewa exit. (This is the last exit before 60 becomes
a toll road.) Turn right at the exit light onto Route 51
South. Continue on Route 51 (about 2 miles) until you come
to the traffic light at the entrance to Brady's Run Park.
Make a right into the park. About one mile down the road
(near the lake and beach), turn up the hill to your right
at a sign that says "Ed Calland Arboretum". Turn
here and follow the road to the top, where you will see
a parking area and the pavilion.

Blue
Knob
From the East or West: Take the Pennsylvania Turnpike
to Bedford, Exit 146. Go north on I-99 to Exit 7. Follow
PA 869 west to Pavia, then follow signs through Pavia to
the park.
From North: Take I-99 south to Exit 23. Follow Old
US 220 south. Turn right onto PA 164 west, and follow to
the town of Blue Knob. Turn left onto Blue Knob Road (LR
4035), and follow for 5 miles to the northern entrance of
the park.
From South: Take I-70 west to Breezewood, then US
30 west to Bedford, then north on I-99 to Exit 7. Follow
PA 869 west to Pavia, then follow signs through Pavia to
the park.

Cooper's
Rock
From North, West,
and South of Pittsburgh: Take
I-376 west to I-79 S. Go south just over 65 miles to I-68 in West Virginia.
Go approximately 15 miles to the Cooper's Rock exit 15.
From East and East
of Pittsburgh: If you are starting close
to Pittsburgh, take 51 S, then pick up 119 S when you get to the Uniontown
area (well after you pass the intersection to I-70). From 119 S, take
the 43 S exit for one exit. Get off of 43 at the Fairchance exit, and
turn left off the exit. Turn right (south) onto 857 S, and continue just
over 15 miles to 68 E. The next exit off 68 is the Cooper's Rock exit
15.
Turn right off the exit
and go to the parking lot just before the end. There is a gas station
and deli at the exit before (exit 10 to Route 857); the park has restrooms
and water, but the food concessions are open sporadically.

From Pittsburgh and West or South: Take Route 28 North and
take Exit 13 toward Russellton. Turn left onto Crawford
Run Road (Orange Belt).
Continue to follow the Orange Belt, bearing right onto Butler
Logan road. After approximately 2 miles, turn right into
the park at the Deer Lakes Park sign. Just past the first
lake, there is a large parking lot where we generally meet.
From the North (starting north of Gibsonia): Take
Route 8 south to Route 910. Turn left (East) on 910 (the
Orange Belt). Continue
to follow the Orange belt, turning left onto Oak Road, right
onto Saxonburg Boulevard, right onto E Union Road, and left
onto Starr Road. Turn left into the park at the Deer Lakes
Park sign. Just past the first lake, there is a large parking
lot where we generally meet.
From the East: Take the I-76 (PA Turnpike) to the
Allegheny Valley Exit 48. Turn right onto Freeport Road.
Follow Freeport Road to Pearl Avenue and turn left. Pearl
Avenue becomes Russelton Road, which then becomes Little
Deer Creek Valley Road. In Russelton, turn right at the
first intersection, onto the Orange
Belt. (Look for a drug store, bank, and liquor
store.) After a short distance, turn left into the park
at the Deer Lakes Park sign. Just past the first lake, there
is a large parking lot where we generally meet.

Fall Run Park
From Pittsburgh and East, West, or South: Take Route 28 and
exit at the Route 8 North/Butler exit (exit 5B). Take Route 8 just under 3 miles
north and turn right onto Fall Run Road. Cross Pine
Creek and make an immediate left into the parking lot.
From the North: Take Route 8 South. Just under 2 miles south of Elfinwild
Road, turn left onto Fall Run Road. Cross Pine Creek and make an immediate
left into the parking lot.

From Pittsburgh: Take Route 65 North to the I-79
North exit. Make a right at the stop sign. Proceed ¼
mile and turn left on Deer Run Road. Proceed on Deer Run
Road, which becomes Merriman Road, to the second stop sign
and make a left on Glen Mitchell Road.
Fern Hollow Nature Center ¼ mile on the right at
the crest of the hill.
From the South: Take I-79 North to the Mt. Nebo
Road exit. Make a left at the end of the ramp onto Blackburn
Road. Proceed ¾ mile to the top of the hill and make
a left onto Scaife Road. Proceed 2 winding miles to Glen
Mitchell Road and make a left. Fern Hollow Nature Center
¼ mile on the right at the crest of the hill.
From the North: Take I-79 South to the Mt. Nebo
Road exit. Make a right at end of ramp onto Blackburn Road.
Proceed ¾ mile to the top of the hill and make a
left onto Scaife Road. Proceed 2 winding miles to Glen Mitchell
Road and make a left. Fern Hollow Nature Center ¼
mile on the right at the crest of the hill.

These directions are to the Mansion parking lot, on the opposite side of the
park from the Performance Center.
From Pittsburgh and West, North, or South: Take Route 28 North from Pittsburgh, and
exit at the Route 8 North/Butler exit (exit 5B). At the third traffic light, turn right
onto Saxonburg Boulevard. Follow Saxonburg Boulevard 4 miles, when you will cross Hart's
Run Road. Cross this road, then go another 1.2 miles. The entrance to the mansion will be
on your left.
From the East: Stay right on the exit ramp. Take the PA Turnpike to the Allegheny
Valley Exit (Exit 48). At the second light, turn right onto Route 910 West.Go 4-1/2 miles
and turn left onto Saxonburg Boulevard at the light. Follow Saxonburg Boulevard about 2-1/2
miles and the entrance to the mansion will be on your right.

From Pittsburgh and West, North, or South: Take Route 28 North from Pittsburgh,
and exit at the Route 908 (Millerstown/Freeport) exit (exit 16). Go
south on 908 for approximately 0.8 mile. At the flashing red traffic
light, turn right onto Freeport Road and get into the left-hand lane.
The entrance to Harrison Hills Park
is 0.8 miles on the left, just beyond the Harrison Hills Fire Dept. (large,
single story buff building) and Harrison Hills Chiropractic on the right.
From the East: Either take 422 North to 28 South, or 76 West to 28 North. Follow
the directions above.
Jackson Farm
From
the North or South: Take I-79 or Route 51 to I-70, then continue
with the remaining directions.
Take I-70 to Exit 17 (Charleroi). Turn right onto Route 88 South. Go 5-6 miles,
past the Allenport Steel Mill. After you pass the Speedy
Mart, take the 2nd right onto Walnut St. After a sign that
says Howling Hills there is a T; turn right at this T, and
continue to the Jackson farm. There is a variety of habitats
that should make hunting good.
From Pittsburgh and West: Take Route 22 East and turn left (North) onto
Route 981 at the traffic light in New Alexandria. Follow Route
981 until you come to the stop sign at the bridge leading into Saltsburg (the town is
on your right, and the Kiski campus is atop the cliff on your left). Proceed straight
ahead after stopping. (Be advised that traffic coming down the hill toward the bridge,
AND the traffic crossing the bridge from your right, have the right-of-way. Be careful!)
Bear left where the road forks just in front of you. Continue on Route 286 W up and around
the curve in the road. (Route 981 continues straight ahead toward the Kiski Valley Inn
and on to Avonmore; do not take that direction.) The entrance to the school is on the
left, as you crest the hill, between the tall brick pillars and before you reach the BP/Subway.
Meet in the parking area to the right just past the security shed.
Knob Hill Community Park
From the East or West: Take I-76 (PA Turnpike) to
the Cranberry exit. Take US-19 South. At the third traffic
light, turn right into Thorn Hill Industrial Park. At the
light turn left onto Brush Creek Road. Stay on Brush Creek
Road for about 1 mile, and turn right at the second traffic
light onto Knob Road. Travel about 1 mile to the Knob Hill
Community Park main entrance (on your left).
From Pittsburgh and South: Take I-79 North to exit 75 (Warrendale
exit). At the end of the exit ramp, turn left onto Warrendale-Bayne
Road. Take the first right (approximately 1/8 mile) onto
Brush Creek Road. Stay on Brush Creek Road for about 1 mile
and turn left at the second traffic light onto Knob Road.
From the North: Take I-79 South to the Cranberry
exit. Take Route 228 West to US-19 South (about 1/4 mile).
At the third traffic light, turn right into Thorn Hill Industrial
Park. At the light turn left onto Brush Creek Road. Stay
on Brush Creek Road for about 1 mile, and turn right at
the second traffic light onto Knob Road.Travel about 1 mile
to the Knob Hill Community Park main entrance (on your left).
(From Pittsburgh and East or West: Take I-80 or I-76 to I-81, then
continue with the remaining directions.)
Located seven miles north of Pottsville, three miles south
of Mahanoy City, eight miles west of Tamaqua and six miles
west of Tuscarora State Park. The park is two miles southwest
of the PA Route 54 exit of I-81.
From Pittsburgh: Take I-79 to the PA 422 exit. Go West
on 422 for about a mile, just past Route 19. Turn left at the sign
to McConnell's Mill onto McConnell's Mill Road. The sign is not obvious
and is immediately at the turn. Follow this road to the parking lot
and picnic area at the end.
From Pittsburgh: Take I-79 to the PA 422 exit. Go
West on 422 until
you come to a red light and a Sheetz store on your left. Turn
left onto Route 388. Continue until you come to Center Church
Road and turn left. Continue for about a
mile, then turn left onto Shaffer Road. Park in the Hell’s
Hollow parking lot immediately on the right.
From the Slippery Rock exit of I-79, proceed north on
Rt. 108 to Slippery Rock. At the light in town, turn left
on Rt. 258. Go one block, and turn left on Water Street.
Follow Water for approximately 2 miles. After crossing an
iron bridge over the creek, look for a small parking area
on the left at the head of a dirt lane. Do not block the
lane - parking is limited. No rest room.
(From Pittsburgh or North and South: Take I-79 to I-70 E, then continue
with the remaining directions.)
Take I-70 to Exit 25 (Eighty Four/Glyde). Go North on Rt.
519 for 2 miles, then turn right at the light onto Rt.136.
Go 4.4 miles and turn left at the sign to Mingo Creek Park
(just across from Mingo Inn).
Turn R onto Sugar Run Road, then another right into the
park (Mingo Creek Road).
The meeting location at the park will vary.
Moraine State Park is bisected by US 422 running east/west
and PA 528 running north/south.
From Pittsburgh or North and South: Take I-79 to the US 422
exit. From the West: go East on 422, and follow the
directions below:

To access the South Shore, go East on 422 and take
the South Shore exit.

To access the North Shore, you must turn around.
Take the South Shore exit from 422 East, make a left
onto 422 West, then take the North Shore exit.

To access PA 528 N, continue past the South Shore
exit (about 4.5 miles from I-79), then turn left onto
PA 528 N. Make an immediate left onto Park Road just
before a lawn & garden store with a John Deere
sign, and follow this road for about .8 miles to the
parking lot at the end. |
From the East: Take US 422 west.

To access the South Shore, continue past PA 528 on
US 422 just over 3.25 miles to the exit.

To access PA 528 N, take US 422 just over 8.5 miles from
Butler and turn right. Make an immediate left onto Park Road just before

From the North (Erie) or South (Pittsburgh):
- Take I-79 to Exit 73 (Wexford 910, Orange
Belt).
- Turn right (East) if coming from the South, left (also
East) if coming from the North, off the exit ramp onto
910.
- Continue East, through one stop sign at Rt 19, for just
under 4 miles.
- Turn right (South) on Pierce Mill Road, and continue
for slightly over 1/2 mile.
- Turn right onto Kummer road, then immediately go straight
onto Brown Road.
- Go approximately 1/4 mile; the Braille trail is on your
left at the curve in the road. Continue to the Latodami
Nature Center almost immediately to your right to park.
North
Park, Parish Hill Building
The site for the foray activities (except for designated
walks) is the Parish Hill Building in North Park. Registration,
event signup, sales table, and program talks will be located
on the upper floor of the building. Mushroom display and
mushroom cooking preparations will be on the first floor.
NO alcohol is permitted on the premises. NO food is allowed
on the second floor of the building.
There is limited parking adjacent to the building which
will be used for drop-off of people and mushrooms and for
handicapped parking.

Lunch is on your own. You might want to bring your lunch
to the foray and eat at one of the picnic tables that are
at most of the walks and at the Parish Hill site. Bring
something to drink for the day. Coffee will be available
at Parish Hill, lower level.

- Take I-79 to Exit 73 (Wexford 910, Orange Belt).
- Turn right (East) if coming from the South, left (also East) if coming
from the North, off the exit ramp onto 910.
- Continue East, through one stop sign at Rt 19, for just under 4 miles.
- Turn right (South) on Pierce Mill Road, and continue for slightly over
1/2 mile.
- Turn right onto Kummer road, and bear left to stay on Kummer. The skating
rink is about 1/4 mile from the curve.
- From Pittsburgh go north on Rt. 8.
- Turn left onto Wildwood Road onto the Yellow Belt (Ford
Dealer and Boston Market on the right).
- Go 1.3 mi. to a red light; go straight (W Hardies).
- Continue another 1.6 mi. to a red light at North Park
Entrance, road name changes to Ingomar Road at this intersection,
- Turn left on Babcock Boulevard and follow the signs
to the swimming pool parking lot.
From the East Follow Route 22 to the Route 119 North
exit. (If you are coming from the East, this is the second
exit onto 119, after Blairsville: You will pass the Loyalhanna
River, Keystone State Park, and Westinghouse before you
reach the 119 North exit. Take the exit and turn R. Make
an immediate L at Chestnut Ridge Inn onto Old William Penn
Highway (old Route 22). Continue with directions at the
end.
From the West: Follow Route 22 to the Route 119
North exit. Continue with directions at the end.
From the South: Follow Route 217 North into Blairsville.
Turn right onto East Market Street; Market Street becomes
the Old William Penn Highway once out of Blairsville. Stay
on the Old William Penn Highway until past the Chestnut
Ridge Inn. Continue with directions at the end.
From the North: Follow Route 119 South to the Route
22 interchange near Blairsville. Continue on Route 119 under
Route 22. Make an immediate L at Chestnut Ridge Inn onto
Old William Penn Highway (old Route 22).Continue with directions
at the end.

Pass the Chestnut Ridge golf course, and turn R onto
Strangford Road (Pine Lodge, not Pine Ridge
Park).

As you go through an S curve (about 1/2 mile), look
for Chestnut Ridge Road on your left. Turn L onto
Chestnut Ridge Road, then look for the Pine Lodge
sign approximately 1.5 miles on the left. Turn L and
go to the end of the dirt road. |

- Take exit 11 (Bridgeville) onto 50 N
- Turn right on Bower Hill Road

The Nature Center is at Corrigan and Stone Mance Drive
From the North (19 South):
- Take 19 S, turn left on Connor Rd
- Turn right (South) on 88 (Library Road)
